100 Pets

This is my favorite picture I've ever taken!
Last year I shot 100 strangers in 3 hours. It was so much fun to meet all these new people and create an image that brings them all together.
Then last night I took a picture of this lil' fellow. It's funny how serious he looks and I suddenly realized, I should remake the 100 picture with pets! I can already picture how hilarious and adorable it would look.

So now I'm asking for your help!

Do you live in NYC? Would you like to have a fun picture taken of your dog, cat, bird, turtle, rabbit, or any other pet? I'm thinking of setting up a day at a park where people can bring their pets and we can do portraits outside! Email me at colormekatie@gmail.com, say hello and attach a picture of your cute little creature!

Colorful portraits make me oh so happy.

I'm on a mission this week to take as many colorful portraits as I can!

Sunday

Sometimes me and Matty have shadow puppet wars.

I totally won.
But in the end we always kiss and make up.

Birthday Boy

My family came to the city to celebrate my little brother's 20th birthday.
Eating at a silly restaurant is alright,
but nothings more fun than jumping around the city!
Happy birthday brother!

Thursday

I recently modeled for my friend Kamila. I love the mood she creates in her photographs!

I <3 NYC

Last night I cut out a little heart on a piece of paper and put it over my lens.
It turns lights into hearts! How cute is that?

Sunday

One of my many random jobs is to photograph the Museum of Art and Design. Their current exhibit has installations that are made of everyday materials like..
old records,
pots,
glasses,
spoons,
and chairs!

Doesn't it make you wanna build something fun with the stuff you have just lying around?

Happy Valentines Day!

Wanna know how me and Matty met?
We were both extras on the TV show The Sopranos! The director pulled me and Matty aside and told us we were gonna play a couple in the scene. We fake dated for 10 hours that day and ended up real dating since then!

How did you meet your love?

Friday

It may still be winter,
but that won't stop me from taking a dip in the ocean!

Happy Button

When I was just a lil' one, I had to have surgery on my stomach. Luckily it left me with the best scar one could ask for,
A smile under my belly button!
Occasionally I'll add eyes to complete the smiley face.

High Five Escalator

For our latest Improv Everywhere mission, our friend Rob gave out over 2,000 high fives by standing next to a subway escalator during the morning rush.
Five additional people spread out along the adjacent stairs, holding signs to prepare commuters for high five fun!

It was wonderful to photograph all the big smiles so early in the morning!

Sunday

This weekend I...
surprised Matty with a cute ice cream cake even though he's on a diet,
Met a lawyer by day and a potter by night,
Photographed a fun craft workshop,
Saw this pretty view of columbus circle,
Met this lovely lady,
Interviewed people for our Improv Everywhere documentary,
Went to a restaurant where you eat in tents!
and put on a spontaneous puppet show in a toy store with Matty!

What fun things did you do this weekend?

Two

Back in the day when Matty worked in a bank he let me in on a little secret..
Banks still carry twos!

I totally thought they were extinct!

With a wad of twos in my pocket, I am ready to take Matty out for a fancy night on the town ;)

Thought bubbles in France!

Yesterday I found out from my friend Edwige that I was on a popular TV show in France. Look at all the fun things they did with my thought bubbles!

Little things

The warm light on the way home to my apartment,
Turning around and finding your cat in a weirder position than the last,
Cotton candy the size of small children,
The way the empire state building wears clouds like they're hats,
People who fall asleep behind trees and look like they're headless,
The way milk mixes with your delicious ice coffee,
Grandmothers with big fun glasses,
And leaving the bright city and remembering how pretty the stars are.

What are the little things that make you smile?
