Thursday

Do you ever wonder what people are thinking about when you pass them on the street?
I made a bunch of thought bubbles out of paper and we hung them around Brooklyn. We waited for people to walk by the bubbles and when they did, I took a picture.
I'm sure people think about love,
food,
and ladies in bikinis ;)
What would you put in your bubble?

You are such an inspiration to make each day positive! I told about you during a book review I gave yesterday to a women's group. I was reviewing Glenn Beck's book The Christmas Sweater which is all about having a second chance to make the choice to be grateful for everything in your life. You were a perfect example of that!

I love this but I have a question: Did you hang up blank bubbles and then add the images to the photos or were the images already on the bubbles you hung up? Either way it's a great project. Thanks for sharing it!

colormekatie said...

Thanks green cat! I tried using real images at first but it was difficult for many reasons so I ended up just hanging up the bubbles and later adding the images in them.

Katie, I have so many interactive ideas and it's lovely to see that you actually pursue them. :-) This impacted me more then most of the art projects I've seen as of late - because its alive. :-) Your art is also original and SOOO refreshing. I look for art all the time....if I found yours on the street, I would have photographed it. It would be interesting to see someone being photographed as they photograph. :-) Anyway - thought bubble is brilliance. I often wonder about people on the train...in fact, I video them sometimes without them noticing b/c I love strangers. My thought bubble: riding a bike with a basket down 10th st in the east village. :-) I think sound is also something that can be visualized - your artwork makes me think of music. Best to you!

Dear Katie,
yesterday I descovered you blog. I read everything (a couple of things even twice, haha)
Today I heard from my teacher arts that I have to make an artwork about humor beings, what they think, what invluinces what they think. You know, something like that. It doesn't matter what I want to make, I just have to keep that idea in mind.
So when I heard that, I directly had to think of your work (like your balloons)
You inspire me so much. It's realy nice what you do. It makes me smile.
I also saw the butterflies and the ladybugs your placed everywhere in your street, I like that so much! How nice would it be to cycle to school and descover butterflies and ladybugs everywhere! It would deffinatly make my day!
Katie, I just want to tell you that what you do is great. Go on with what you are doing!
All the best,
Helene (15, Holland)
