Last Wednesday was my 25th birthday and I really wanted to celebrate by making something pretty for my block.
In front of my building there's this little square of dirt and weeds that has been there forever.
In a city where almost everything is made of concrete, why have a tiny piece of land filled with weeds when we can have a tiny piece of land filled with flowers?!
So I planned a little night gardening party and had all the bare necessities... friends, flowers, gardening tools,
fun gloves, fancy shoes,
and long balloons to make silly balloon animals.
( Dave is an Anglerfish, can't you tell? )

Love this Idea!!
ReplyDeleteYou should read picture books called 'Window' and 'Belonging' by Jeannie Baker. Belonging takes exactly the idea of what you have done but over the course of a young boy's life from baby to adult, the neighbourhood is transformed into a colourful, natural world, it's amazing. Window is the opposite - hugely depressing but so very near the mark. Love the colourful blog, keep it up! :)
