Things I didn't know about peacocks

Untitled
They look like magical creatures you only read about in fairy tales,
Phil
they also come in white!
Untitled
they love to opera sing,
Untitled
when it rains, they never worry about forgetting their umbrella at home,
Untitled
they don't follow the rules of the playground,
Untitled
and shield your eyes, because they love mooning you.

  17. I lived with a peacock on my property - they may be beautiful, but there is nothing like the sound of one in spring. Like a baby being strangled! I didn't sleep for four months and I couldn't get rid of it to save my life. The next year I bought a dog and it never screetched at me again. In fact one time the dog chased it and it employed a self defense mechanism and sprayed all it's feathers out. I am a proud owner of over 100 peacock feathers! (but never again will I live with a peacock!)

  26. Such a fun post! I had a neighbor who had peacocks and they spent many happy hours in my yard. I can do a great peacock impression. (They sound like cats in trouble.)

  27. One of my neighbours when I was a child had a couple of peacocks. One of them loved a good jailbreak.
One time all my class mates and I had to chase it through the schoolyard and four gardens, when it was on the run!

  28. I have a friend who works at Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, where they have peacocks wandering around. The guides tell the kids groups that doing the chicken dance will get them to spread their feathers. Really, it's just the clapping that does it.

  36. We would go to the zoo when I was little and the peacocks were my favorite! They got to wander around free and it was always a treasure hunt trying to find a loose feather on the ground to take home! I still have them in my room :)

  63. and they climb trees! or rather fly up into them - at the Bronx zoo, no peacocks to be seen in the petting zoo part last year until one of the staff pointed upwards - peacocks in the trees! She said they go up there to get away from the children stepping on their feathers!
