Tree Lighting

I went to the tree lighting in Rockefeller Center last night.
I had time to spare so I found some paper and made pretty filters!
I wish christmas trees always looked like this!

SOOOO freakin' gorgeous!!!!!! (Our Christmas tree broke and fell over last nite. There's quite the funny story on my blog about it.) ;)

This is the prettiest post my eyes have seen in awhile!

To make the shapes just take some black paper, cut a shape in the middle of it and then put it over your lens. You have to purposely shoot out of focus to see the lights change shape and I think it works better when you have a lens with a wide aperture. I shot these with my 85mm 1.2 =)

I want a Xmas tree like that one :) Please teach me how to make those filters!

Soraya said...

I did that here!
I had troubles in the beginning because my lens doesn't have a wide aperture (only f/5.6) =(
But I cut the heart shape really really small, so it could 'cover' the light dot. It worked (not so great, though):
