Have you ever seen an ice skater that was so bad,
that he just kept falling,
and everyone started laughing at him?
We all secretly do it sometimes. But it's okay because we all know what it's like to embarrassingly fall on ice!
While watching ice skaters one day, Matty and I thought of a fun idea to trick people into thinking an ice skater was so terribly bad,
that he couldn't even get off the ice when the zamboni came out.
When people began laughing at him,
he started to get better and better,
and completely shocked everyone,
when they saw him transform from an amateur to a professional!
We ended up turning our idea into an Improv Everywhere prank. He sort of reminds me of the male version of Susan Boyle ;)

You are AMAZING! your children are going to be so lucky to have the two of you as parents :)
your blog is so adorable! love it!
That is SO funny! The ideas you come up with... You amaze us all!
Did people understand near the start that he was performing? Or were a crowd of people just laughing while watching a guy stranded and struggling?
I like the concept of him getting better and better, but that aspect of this troubles me.
That's really pretty Awesome!!!
Melanie's Randomness
Really brilliantly done!
thats so nice.! I love the idea!
that is awesome! he gives hope to all of us horrible ice skaters out there ;) haha
That's so awesome!!!! ..because that's totally how I feel on ice...except I still suck.
I love everyone's reactions!
first i thought, hey katie, you're so mean, wht about me, who never put my feet on the skate even once? and when i read it till the end..that was just awesome!!
nice job, katie :D
awesome! thank you:)))
awesome!! I've always like your ideas! it does gives hope for me to be better on ice skating... I am the worse of all, I couldn't even move and I can feel I can't balance at all until my bf have to carry me! *embarassing* end of the day, it was supposed to be a fun day turns horrible for me :(
You're so creative!
By the way, you've probably done these things a hundred times before, but thought you'd like to know anyway that I chose your blog for a blog award. :o)

xxxx H.F.W.
So cute =] This made me smile!Thank you!
What a brilliant idea!!! I love it:)
Katie, what a creative idea for a project.
It makes my heart hurt to watch that guy struggle out there and no one helps him, though!
But then he gets to have the moment that everyone who's ever been laughed at dreams about! "Look at me now!"
Aw, I felt so sorry for him at the beginning. Great job to all who worked on this. You are all so talented!
I love it. Thank you for sharing it.
So, so cool!
Love your Improvs!!!
♥
That was beautiful, great idea!
Haha! It is wery funny! Nice improv!
You are sure the nr. 1# of most funny and creative people in the world! :)
♥ U're amazing! ♥
oh, I think I am in love with you, and your boy friend and your blog - for sure!
You make my heart smile SO much!!
Thank you <3
Astrid!
I'm normally that skater. The bad one, minus the part where you get better.
FANTASTIC! I think that this has been my favorite Improv skit that I have seen.
I tried ice-skating once and failed epically. I took 4 other skaters down with me. haha.
Nice one though. :)
So awsome!
Great idea. Hugs Karen
This was so beautiful. Things arn't always what you think! As you wrote; male susan!
By the way. Your blog is wonderful! I love your work and would love some camera tips and tricks! If you want to share ;)
Still don't get you Americans for just circling around the ice skating ring... Isn't that boring? O.o
But I loved the idea very much~
I saw very (too) early, that This man CAN do iceskating! But still, I love the idea! Beautiful.
This is a fun concept.
But I can't get over the fact that people were just laughing, and watching him stuggle. It's so sad.
I just discovered your blog (hi!) and I just have to say thank you for making my snow day fun! My husband and I just spent an hour on Improv Everywhere watching the videos and loving it. We are super entertained!
this is so great katie! once again you put a smile on my face! tnx!
Poor guy hope he still isn't hurting!
XOXO,
http://outfitidentifier.com/
that was awesome!
specially because we can see that people are too mean when others are not as them!
everybody has their difficulties! but people still keep on mocking others!
This is just magical... I love your blog!!
i swear katie, i know that's not real but it still made me tear up. who doesn't love an underdog even if it's just pretend.
I think you have a cute blog. I recently won award for Stylish Blogger Award and I am passing it to you! Congratulations!

I love it
Awesome. This whole thing made my day even better (and it started great!)
That's just AWESOME, and even more than that! I love the idea! :D And that you did! I love you guys! Hehe..
Very cool :)
This is a sweet way to show people that they shouldn't judge a book by it's cover without actually pointing out how often we really do it.
Also I think this could be a great portrayal of resilience. We all look clumsy and awkward when we first put on skates. But this man obviously had the determination to skate through everyone's laughter, now he is showing us all a little about ourselves with his art. A lot like you do everyday Katie.
Thank you for posting.
maravilhosa!!
beijos...
This is so amazingly sweet! But anyway, people shouldn't make fun of bad skaters! We all try! :D
This is great. Love the comparision to Susan Boyle, with the people who were laughing at him clapping at the end. I look forward to seeing more videos like this. Siobhan @ The Miss Adventure Journals
it would be more convincing if he wore the blue skates :)
Such a clever idea!!
Jess : )
Such a lovely idea!
I love the idea, very creative
This made me so happy. I think people need to be surprised sometimes. :)
Excellent! LOve love this, haha! :)
I love you guys and how much joy you bring to the world, the look on those peoples faces is priceless. When I think of all those people who, whatever they had going on in their lives, walked away with a big smile, I cant help but think you guys are doing a wonderful thing!
xxx
Thanks so much everyone!!
This video was on the AOL.com homepage today :]

I love that he is wearing the Canadian Olympic Red Mittens!
Katie - I love this!
I'm a fan of yours living in Vancouver - we totally love that the skater was wearing the mittens. My little girl and I went to an Olympic figure skating event, and have fond memories of how the olympics took over our city last year. Thanks for making us smile! :)
These are such lovely pictures!

So cute! I teared up a little...
It's such a great idea, and beautiful video... though the thought of noone helping him out hurts me...

Very very nice blog
Such a genius idea! I love it!
Great piece of art Katie!
Amazing!
Wow, I was feeling really low reading the first few sentences and photos, wondering how you could be like thsi . . .
I love this "joke". Never have I ever known such an optimistic, creative creature!!!
You could bring out the happiness in anyone!
Awww. It made me kind of sad that nobody offered to go and help him. . .even the skating guards (did they know?)?
By the way, yay for the Canada mitts!
this is probably one of the best things i've ever seen!
Is it ok that your improv everywhere videos always seem to give me a lump in my throat?? :)
Love your blog! Awesome idea. Hope one day i can really turn from a bad ice skater into a professional!
love it!!!
Very nice video, if only life was like that every day!
GAH! If I was there, and everyone was laughing at him, I would have gone out there right away to help him, and lead him in! This was a huge metaphor for me- when you let people figure it out themselves, they become empowered and the miracle occurs-
thank you for posting this- it brought tears to my eyes and helped motivate and inspire me!
love and hugs to you
ps- I LOVED his Vancouver 2010 gloves, thats my home town, and it pulled on my heart strings even more that he wore those!
LOVE this! I really love that you not only have great ideas, but you act on them. That's the key, isn't it?
I LOVE your blog!!!
i love this! one of my favorites from improv everywhere!! great idea & beautifully done
that was pure genius!
