What things make you nostalgic?

Last weekend while taking a walk, I stopped at a stoop sale. A large bin had caught my eye and when I lifted up the cover...

Untitled

it was filled to the top with toys from my childhood!
Untitled

Suddenly all of these wonderfully sweet, warm and loving memories came back to me that I had completely forgotten about.

Untitled

While looking through the toys with a big goofy smile on, the owner approached me and said, "You can take the whole bin home for five dollars"

Untitled
Five dollars?! I couldn't believe the deal I was getting!
Untitled
Realistically, this was just a bin of old, cheap, plastic objects but to me... it was like gold.
Untitled
I was able to bring back a flood of happy childhood memories that were locked up in a room inside my head…
Untitled
and it only cost me five dollars to buy the key.

What a fun post! I call this time traveling, when a scent or smell or taste or object or music sends you back to another you.

Because I moved this past week, I was listening to old compilation CDs and time traveled myself.

Wow I haven't thought of those blocks with eyes (from your red heart) in forever! My sister and I used to make towering monsters with those things.

Thanks for sharing :)

That's amazing! What a treasure!

This summer I found so many toys I had played with in my childhood and some notebooks that had my little kid writings on them. I was so moved to re-discover them!

so pretty, what makes me nostalgic, sometimes could be a smell, you know, like my mom backing something, or her perfume, sometimes a particular song, things like that

Great post. I stared at your hearts, looking for fun toys that I remembered. Loved the little, orange cabbage patch doll; the pink doll brushes; the red butterfly and the yellow race car!

You are so creative!

I'm so lucky to be reliving mine again with my daughter... She's playing with little things that I used to when I was 4! I believe in toys that encourage imagination... I'm hoping she can one day look back on hers and smile too :)

Love your bursts of colour!

So beautiful! I thought they were all legos but oh my goodness - so very many different kinds of toys in that mix! I have a "treasure" box in my parents' home where I hid all the toys and trinkets that I collected over the years, some from when I was 3 years old. this reminds of that!

I feel guilty. I always read your new posts with my 11 year old daughter. I kept scrolling down and read the whole thing without her! I guess that gives me an excuse to look at it again!
