Last weekend while taking a walk, I stopped at a stoop sale. A large bin had caught my eye and when I lifted up the cover...
it was filled to the top with toys from my childhood!
Suddenly all of these wonderfully sweet, warm and loving memories came back to me that I had completely forgotten about.
While looking through the toys with a big goofy smile on, the owner approached me and said, "You can take the whole bin home for five dollars"
Five dollars?! I couldn't believe the deal I was getting!
Realistically, this was just a bin of old, cheap, plastic objects but to me... it was like gold.
I was able to bring back a flood of happy childhood memories that were locked up in a room inside my head…
and it only cost me five dollars to buy the key.

Love, Love, LOVE this post! Thanks again for brightening my day, Katie!!
What a fun post! I call this time traveling, when a scent or smell or taste or object or music sends you back to another you.
Because I moved this past week, I was listening to old compilation CDs and time traveled myself.
Aww so cute! Lovely story and the hearts are so pretty x
@ Em- That's so lovely! I'm totally going to borrow that term..
A couple of weeks ago I went to a flea market and found some toys from my childhood! I didn't buy them but they brought back many good memories :)

Thanks for sending me on a time traveling trip, too. I saw a lot of toys from my childhood in those hearts. Fantastic!
Wow I haven't thought of those blocks with eyes (from your red heart) in forever! My sister and I used to make towering monsters with those things.
Thanks for sharing :)
This artist does fun stuff with toys too! http://www.kirklandsmith.com/?page_id=4

This summer I found so many toys I had played with in my childhood and some notebooks that had my little kid writings on them. I was so moved to re-discover them!

so pretty, what makes me nostalgic, sometimes could be a smell, you know, like my mom backing something, or her perfume, sometimes a particular song, things like that
Great post. I stared at your hearts, looking for fun toys that I remembered. Loved the little, orange cabbage patch doll; the pink doll brushes; the red butterfly and the yellow race car!
You are so creative!
What a cute idea!
Absolutely love what you did with the toys.

I'm so lucky to be reliving mine again with my daughter... She's playing with little things that I used to when I was 4! I believe in toys that encourage imagination... I'm hoping she can one day look back on hers and smile too :)
Love your bursts of colour!

So beautiful! I thought they were all legos but oh my goodness - so very many different kinds of toys in that mix! I have a "treasure" box in my parents' home where I hid all the toys and trinkets that I collected over the years, some from when I was 3 years old. this reminds of that!
What a deal and what and awesome idea! I love it!
I'm in love with your hearts....
Lovely Idea

I feel guilty. I always read your new posts with my 11 year old daughter. I kept scrolling down and read the whole thing without her! I guess that gives me an excuse to look at it again!
Wow so pretty. You can't put a price on the memories you get from childhood toys.

I love the picture very beautiful love it, especially the blue though composed of toys, but still did not eliminate the significance of the symbol.
All of that for $5? That's ridiculous! These make me feel very nostalgic and makes me wish I could have the opportunity to come across the same find that you did. They're all so fun and wonderful!
